The VTE Paguro 18000 is a high-output marine diesel generator for vessels requiring 120V or 240V, 60Hz single-phase AC power. In its 60Hz configuration, the generator delivers up to 18 kW continuous output, or 21 kVA, at 3,600 RPM; 18 kVA and 16 kW correspond to the 50Hz, 3,000 RPM version. It uses a four-cylinder Lombardini LDW 1404 diesel engine and a water-cooled brushless alternator in a sound-insulated fiberglass enclosure.
The generator uses freshwater cooling with a heat exchanger and a self-priming raw-water pump. It includes a remote control with hour meter, load indication, automatic shutdown for low oil pressure and high temperature, a 12V starter system, and an 8A battery charger. Generator selection and installation must account for the exact required voltage, frequency, phase, continuous load, motor-starting current, installation space, exhaust, cooling, fuel, and electrical-transfer requirements.
Key Specifications
- High-output marine diesel generator with water-cooled brushless synchronous alternator.
- Uses a Lombardini LDW 1404 four-cylinder diesel engine with 1,372 cc displacement.
- Produces up to 18 kW continuous output at 60Hz and 3,600 RPM.
- Provides 120V single-phase AC output in the documented 60Hz configuration.
- The 50Hz configuration is rated at 18 kVA and 16 kW at 3,000 RPM with 230V single-phase output.
- Uses freshwater cooling through a heat exchanger and a self-priming direct-drive raw-water pump.
- Includes remote control with hour meter, load indicator, low-oil-pressure shutdown, and high-temperature shutdown.
- Weighs approximately 230 kg with the soundproof enclosure and produces a listed noise level of approximately 54 dB(A).
System Integration
This generator requires a complete marine-generator installation including diesel fuel supply and return lines, raw-water intake, strainer, exhaust system, ventilation, battery-start circuit, AC distribution panel, transfer switch or shore-power interlock, grounding and bonding arrangement, circuit protection, and appropriately rated cabling.
Verify whether the vessel requires 120V, 240V, 230V, 50Hz, or 60Hz power before ordering. The 60Hz and 50Hz versions differ in engine speed, voltage, frequency, and continuous output. Do not select a generator by kVA alone; account for actual simultaneous loads, power factor, motor-starting current, duty cycle, and future electrical demand.
Installation Considerations
Install the generator on a rigid vibration-isolated foundation with sufficient access for engine oil, filters, coolant, impeller, belt, raw-water connections, exhaust, and electrical service. Provide safe exhaust routing, reliable seawater supply, correctly sized fuel lines, adequate engine-room ventilation, and a compliant AC distribution and shore-power transfer arrangement. Test voltage, frequency, load response, shutdown functions, cooling-water flow, exhaust integrity, and electrical protection during commissioning.
Before Ordering
Confirm required continuous and surge electrical load, exact 50Hz or 60Hz configuration, voltage and phase requirement, available installation space, 230 kg structural support, diesel fuel-system layout, raw-water intake, exhaust route, ventilation capacity, starting-battery connection, remote-panel cable route, AC distribution design, transfer-switch requirement, grounding plan, service access, and qualified marine-generator installation requirements before purchase.
