The Lombardini Marine LMG 9000 is a supersilenced marine diesel generator for onboard 230V, 50Hz single-phase AC power systems. It provides 8 kW continuous output, or 9 kVA, at 3,000 RPM and uses a Lombardini LDW 702 MG two-cylinder FOCS diesel engine with a water-cooled brushless alternator. The generator is enclosed in an insulated fiberglass soundproof canopy designed to reduce operating noise and simplify installation in suitable engine-room locations.
The unit uses indirect freshwater cooling through a stainless-steel heat exchanger and self-priming seawater pump. It includes a remote electronic control panel with automatic start and safety alarms. Correct installation requires marine diesel fuel supply and return, seawater intake and strainer, exhaust system, ventilation, starting battery, AC distribution, transfer switching, grounding, and correctly sized electrical protection.
Key Specifications
- Supersilenced marine diesel generator for 230V single-phase 50Hz AC electrical systems.
- Provides 8 kW continuous output, equivalent to 9 kVA.
- Uses a Lombardini LDW 702 MG two-cylinder FOCS diesel engine with 686 cc displacement.
- Operates at 3,000 RPM.
- Uses a synchronous brushless water-cooled alternator.
- Uses indirect freshwater cooling through a stainless-steel heat exchanger and self-priming seawater pump.
- Fuel consumption is listed at approximately 2.4 L per hour at 75% load.
- Includes a remote electronic control panel with automatic start, low-oil-pressure, high-coolant-temperature, alternator-temperature, and overspeed shutdown protection.
System Integration
The LMG 9000 needs a complete marine-generator installation, including correctly sized diesel fuel plumbing, raw-water intake and strainer, exhaust hose and waterlift arrangement, ventilation, 12V start battery, AC circuit breakers, shore-power transfer or interlock, grounding, and distribution cabling. Generator output must be matched to the vessel’s 230V, 50Hz electrical architecture.
Assess total demand and starting surge before selecting an 8 kW generator. Air-conditioning, refrigeration, watermakers, battery chargers, galley appliances, pumps, and other motor-driven loads can create significant short-duration peak demand. Use qualified marine electrical and diesel installation practices.
Installation Considerations
Install the generator on a rigid vibration-isolated foundation with adequate clearance for oil, filters, coolant, impeller, exhaust, and canopy service. Ensure safe exhaust routing, reliable raw-water supply, proper ventilation, and protected fuel-system installation. Test voltage, frequency, cooling, exhaust integrity, alarm functions, shutdown operation, and load response during commissioning.
Before Ordering
Confirm required continuous and surge electrical load within 8 kW, 230V single-phase 50Hz compatibility, available installation space, structural support for the complete generator, diesel fuel-system layout, raw-water intake, exhaust route, ventilation capacity, starting-battery connection, remote-control cable route, AC distribution and transfer-switch design, grounding plan, service access, and qualified marine-generator installation requirements before purchase.
