The Lombardini Marine LMG 4000 is a compact supersilenced diesel generator for 230V, 50Hz single-phase onboard AC systems. It delivers 3.2 kW continuous output, or 4 kVA, at 3,000 RPM and uses a Lombardini 15LD 350 single-cylinder diesel engine with a brushless synchronous alternator. Its insulated fiberglass canopy helps reduce operating noise while protecting the generator in a correctly ventilated marine installation.
The generator uses a 12V electric starter and a water-cooled alternator with seawater circuit components, while the single-cylinder engine is air cooled. It includes a remote control panel with a 10 m plug-in cable, battery charger, and automatic shutdown protection. A complete marine installation still requires correctly designed fuel, seawater, exhaust, ventilation, starting-battery, AC distribution, shore-power transfer, grounding, and circuit-protection systems.
Key Specifications
- Compact supersilenced marine diesel generator for 230V single-phase 50Hz AC power systems.
- Provides 3.2 kW continuous output, equivalent to 4 kVA.
- Uses a Lombardini 15LD 350 single-cylinder diesel engine with 349 cc displacement.
- Operates at 3,000 RPM in the 50Hz configuration.
- Uses a brushless synchronous alternator with water-cooled stator windings.
- Uses an air-cooled engine with a seawater cooling circuit for the alternator and wet exhaust system.
- Includes 12V electric starting, a remote control panel with 10 m cable, battery charger, and status indication.
- Measures approximately 560 mm by 430 mm by 490 mm and weighs approximately 90 kg according to the manufacturer brochure.
System Integration
This generator requires a complete marine electrical and mechanical installation. Add diesel fuel feed and return lines, raw-water intake and strainer, anti-siphon arrangement where required, wet exhaust hose and waterlock components, ventilation, starting battery, AC breakers, grounding and bonding, shore-power transfer or interlock equipment, and correctly rated marine cables.
Confirm that onboard equipment is compatible with 230V, 50Hz single-phase power and that expected continuous load remains within 3.2 kW. Allow for motor-starting surge from refrigeration compressors, pumps, air-conditioning equipment, chargers, or galley appliances before selecting generator capacity.
Installation Considerations
Mount the generator on a rigid vibration-isolated base with clear access for fuel filters, oil service, raw-water impeller inspection, exhaust connections, electrical terminals, and sound-capsule removal. Maintain unobstructed ventilation and reliable raw-water flow, and route exhaust components safely. Test voltage, frequency, cooling-water flow, exhaust integrity, remote-panel operation, alarms, shutdowns, and load response during commissioning.
Before Ordering
Confirm required continuous and surge load within 3.2 kW, 230V single-phase 50Hz compatibility, available 560 mm by 430 mm by 490 mm installation space, structural support for approximately 90 kg, diesel fuel-system layout, raw-water intake, exhaust route, ventilation capacity, starting-battery circuit, remote-panel cable route, AC distribution and transfer-switch design, grounding plan, service access, and qualified marine-generator installation requirements before purchase.
