SHIMANO SARAGOSA FISHING REEL – 20000SW

Saragosa SW is an affordable rival to Shimano’s high-end Stella series. To make these spinning reels suitable for saltwater fishing conditions, Shimano has incorporated a number of special features. For starters, the Cross Carbon drag is waterproof and adds to the remarkable saltwater protection offered by X-Protect and X-Shield.

X-Protect is a system whereby water is kept out of the mechanism by a three-lip system that’s resistant to pressure. The result of that resistance is a remarkably smooth rotor action. X-Shield provides further protection against corrosion with sealed gaskets positioned in 12 critical areas of the reel’s aluminium body. Saltwater is not going to be a problem for one of these reels.

The quality of the reels is also supported by the aluminium and X17 graphite construction of the rotor and body. Once you factor in X-Ship technology, Saragosa SW fishing reels provide outstanding cranking power. There is no sacrifice of smoothness in favour of power, with Saragosa SW reels feeling comfortable and easy to use.

Shimano has further enhanced the smoothness of these spinning reels by incorporating a one-piece bail for guiding the fishing line onto the roller. Spool resistance is then minimized with the of AR-C technology for laying braided lines evenly. A Shimano Saragosa SW reel is a fine example of how technology can make life easier.

Features and Specifications

- Model SRG20000SW
- Mono Capacity 15kg / 300m
- Power Pro Capacity 65lb / 490yds
- Gear Ratio 4.4:1
- Retrieve Per Crank 104cm
- 6 + 1 bearings
- 20kg drag power
- Weight: 822g
- AR-C spool
- Dyna-Balance
- Hybrid Body
- One-piece bail
- Paladin
- Propulsion line management system
- Super Stopper II
- X-Protect
- X-Shield
- X-Ship
- XGT7

Fishing Rod Recommendations and Target Species

The Saragosa 20000SW is a super tough saltwater reel that will handle hard fighting fish like snapper, groper, jewfish, kingfish, mackerel, giant trevally, tuna, etc.

The Saragosa can be fished from the shore or the boat and matches to fishing rods ranging in length from 1.5m (jigging rods) up to 4.5m (surf/ rock rods) depending on your fishing situation. The drag power of the range starts at 10kg and climbs to a maximum of 20kg, giving you an enticing spread of options.
- X-Protect and X-Shield combine to prevent saltwater from causing corrosive damage to Saragosa SW reels. These features protect the mechanism of the reel along with 12 critical areas on the body.
- Without adjusting your technique, AR-C spool technology can increase the distance of your casting. The line flows off the spool in much smaller loops and dramatically decreases friction.
- Shimano has treated the aluminium drive gear and brass pinion gear with Paladin to enhance the quality and longevity of these components.
- Dyna-Balance has enabled Shimano to eliminate wobbling during retrievals and subsequently boost sensitivity and smoothness.
