Overview

The Rocket Espresso R Cinquantotto Espresso Machine, a refined update on the ever-popular R58, stands as a premier dual boiler espresso machine for the home enthusiast. It features a sophisticated dual PID system precisely controlling each boiler’s temperature, all managed via a convenient removable touchscreen display. This allows for meticulous adjustments to accommodate diverse roast profiles. Appreciated updates to Rocket’s signature dual boiler machine include refreshed cup railings, redesigned legs and side panels, and the practical inclusion of a subtle shot timer, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.

Features and Performance

Rather than integrating the PID directly into the front of the R Cinquantotto, Rocket chose to innovate by creating a separate removable touchscreen device. This touchscreen is far more than just a PID controller; when attached, it empowers you to independently turn off the steam boiler, set precise on/off times for different days of the week, activate an ECO mode for power savings, and seamlessly switch between using the water tank or a direct water line connection. Separate from the main PID functionality, a subtle shot timer is cleverly located directly above the power switch, which automatically begins counting the moment the brew lever is engaged, providing real-time feedback for perfect extractions.

Powerful Dual Boilers and Pre-Infusion

At its heart, the R Cinquantotto boasts a 0.58 L brew boiler and a substantial 1.8 L steam boiler. These dedicated boilers work in harmony to consistently pump out shot after shot and fuel a powerful, cool-touch, no-burn steam wand (along with its hot water counterpart), ensuring ample steam for multiple milk drinks.

As on their other distinguished machines, the E61 grouphead present on the R Cinquantotto features Rocket’s innovative dual pre-infusion system. This sophisticated system utilizes both a static pre-infusion chamber and a mechanical working piston, which progressively pre-infuses the coffee puck. This results in a fully saturated extraction, consistently yielding incredibly crema-rich espresso shots. The R Cinquantotto also features a commercial-grade rotary pump, which, in addition to being incredibly quiet during operation, offers the crucial option to plumb the machine directly into a water line, ideal for continuous use without manual refills.

Why You Should Get It

This rock-solid Rocket Espresso R Cinquantotto Espresso Machine won’t let you down. It’s a synthesis of reliability, innovation, and thoughtful design, built to deliver a premium coffee experience for years to come. The removable touchscreen display is a standout addition, providing precise control over boiler temperatures, the flexibility to turn off the steam boiler when not needed, the convenience of setting automatic on/off times for each day of the week, and much more. Its combination of aesthetic refinement, robust internal components, and user-centric features makes it an ideal choice for serious home baristas who demand uncompromising quality and control over their espresso.
