Overview

Owning the Mazzer Mini Electronic Type A Espresso Grinder means embracing unparalleled convenience and precision in your espresso preparation. This grinder comes equipped with an advanced electronic automatic dosing system, allowing you to program and dispense timed single and double shots with the simple press of a button. For ultimate control, you can also press and hold the manual grind button, releasing your finger once you’ve achieved your desired amount of grounds. The Mazzer Mini Type A retains the high-performance motor found in the standard Mini, as well as its compact short bean hopper, but the similarities end there. The traditional manual timer dial is replaced with sophisticated electronic controls seamlessly integrated atop the grounds dispenser, which consistently funnels grounds evenly into the middle of your portafilter. The single and double shot buttons can be precisely programmed by time to dispense automatically when pressed, streamlining your workflow. We particularly appreciate Mazzer’s meticulous attention to detail in their design; for instance, the controls can be lifted from the top of the dispenser and conveniently clipped onto the side, and the portafilter can rest securely hands-free in the holder during grinding. The Type A represents a serious upgrade to the Mini line, distinguished by its easy, intuitive operation, and is our personal favorite among them.

Features and Performance

The Mazzer Mini Electronic Type A boasts robust 64mm stainless steel flat burrs, which provide a larger surface area for grinding compared to the standard Mini, contributing to more efficient and consistent results. The Type A is also a stepless grinder, meaning its burrs can be adjusted almost infinitely by turning the collar in small, precise amounts. While this grinder is capable of producing both coarse and fine grinds, in the case of stepless grinders, we recommend dedicating it primarily to espresso or other fine grind methods to avoid extensive dialing-in before every use. The burrs are designed for easy access, simplifying cleaning, and calibrating them afterward is straightforward, ensuring hassle-free maintenance. If you prefer strictly manual operation, the standard Mini or Mini P are excellent options; or, if you desire a more hands-on automatic dosing experience with a built-in grind button, consider the Mazzer Mini Electronic Type B.
